Go to beta.apple.comFor Developer Beta, use your Apple Developer account. This gets updates earlier.
Go to developer.apple.comOn your iPad, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates.
Go back one screen. iPadOS 26 Beta will appear like a normal update. Tap "Download and Install".
An IPSW file allows you to completely wipe the iPad and install a fresh copy of iPadOS 26. This is the best method to fix persistent bugs, battery drain, or "System Data" storage issues.
Download the specific .ipsw file for your iPad model (e.g., iPad Pro 13-inch M4) from the Apple Developer Portal.
Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Find My and turn off "Find My iPad". You cannot restore a device with this enabled.
Connect iPad to computer. In Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows), hold the specific key on your keyboard while clicking "Check for Update".
A file browser will open. Select the downloaded IPSW file. Your computer will verify the file with Apple and begin the clean installation.
If your iPad has been stuck on the Apple logo for >45 minutes, perform a Force Restart:
To remove iPadOS 26 and go back to iPadOS 25, you must enter Recovery Mode.
Used if Recovery Mode fails. Screen remains BLACK.
