How to install
watchOS 26 Beta

The complete guide to updating your Apple Watch. Unlike iOS, watchOS updates are irreversible. Read carefully before proceeding.

No Downgrade Possible

Once you install watchOS 26 Beta, you cannot restore to a previous version yourself. If you encounter critical bugs, you will have to wait for the next update or send your watch to Apple Service. Do not install on your primary device if you rely on health features for medical reasons.

Chapter 1: Prerequisites

Update iPhone First

You must install iOS 26 Beta on your paired iPhone first. The watch update will not appear otherwise.

Battery & Charger

Watch must be on its charger and have at least 50% battery to start the installation.

Backup (Automatic)

Your iPhone automatically backs up your Watch. Ensure your iPhone is backed up to iCloud/Mac.

Method B

Direct Update (On Watch)

Update directly from your wrist

You can also initiate the update from the Settings app on the Apple Watch itself, provided your iPhone is nearby or the watch is on Wi-Fi.

On your Apple Watch, open the Settings app.

2

Software Update

Tap General > Software Update.

3

Troubleshooting Library

Stuck on "Verifying"

If the update hangs on verifying for >30 mins:

1. Force Restart Watch (Hold Side + Crown)
2. Force Restart iPhone
3. Toggle Wi-Fi off/on on iPhone
4. Try again.

Update Not Showing

Ensure iPhone is on iOS 26 Beta. The watch update will NOT show if the iPhone is on iOS 25.

  • Check iPhone iOS version.
  • Restart both devices.
  • Unpair and Re-pair Watch (Last resort).

Not Enough Space

Older watches (Series 4/5/SE) often run out of space.

Solution: Unpair your Apple Watch and set it up as new. This clears cache and logs, giving enough space for the update. Restore backup after update.
