iOS 27 Security Update

iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 fixes 163 vulnerabilities. Every fix, in Apple's words, with what it could have allowed.

What iOS 27 Fixes

iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, released September 14, 2026, fixes 163 vulnerabilities in 85 parts of the system, according to Apple's security advisory.

Apple does not say that any of them were exploited before the fix. That makes iOS 27 a routine security update: worth installing soon, not an emergency.

It has since been superseded: the newest security release for iOS 27 is iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2, from October 26, 2026, which includes these fixes.

Grouped by us from the impact Apple gives for each fix; the impact lines below are Apple's own.

Which Devices Get iOS 27

Apple lists iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 for: iPhone 11 and later, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 4th generation and later, iPad Pro 11-inch 2nd generation and later, iPad Air 4th generation and later, iPad 9th generation and later, and iPad mini 6th generation and later.

The iOS 27 release page has its build numbers and release history.

How to Install iOS 27

On the iPhone, open Settings → General → Software Update. If more than one update is offered, the one with the higher version number is the current release; the other is for people who want to stay on the previous major version.

Security fixes are cumulative: any later release for the same version includes these as well, so if you are already past iOS 27 there is nothing to do.
