What watchOS 27 Fixes
watchOS 27, released September 14, 2026, fixes 106 vulnerabilities in 49 parts of the system, according to Apple's security advisory.
Apple does not say that any of them were exploited before the fix. That makes watchOS 27 a routine security update: worth installing soon, not an emergency.
It has since been superseded: the newest security release for watchOS 27 is watchOS 27.2, from October 26, 2026, which includes these fixes.
| What an attacker could do | Fixes |
|---|---|
| Run code | 3 |
| Elevated privileges or sandbox escape | 21 |
| Private data or protections bypassed | 19 |
| Crash or denial of service | 43 |
| Other | 20 |
Grouped by us from the impact Apple gives for each fix; the impact lines below are Apple's own.
Which Devices Get watchOS 27
Apple lists watchOS 27 for: Apple Watch Series 9 and later.
The watchOS 27 release page has its build numbers and release history.
How to Install watchOS 27
Open the Watch app on the paired iPhone, then General → Software Update. The watch needs to be on its charger and within range of the iPhone.
Security fixes are cumulative: any later release for the same version includes these as well, so if you are already past watchOS 27 there is nothing to do.
