Reset Network Settings first
Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings clears the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VPN and cellular configuration and rebuilds it from scratch. It resolves a large share of post-update connectivity problems, because the cause is frequently a configuration carried across an upgrade rather than the radio or the beta itself.
The cost is that you will need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and re-pair Bluetooth accessories. It does not touch your data, apps or settings otherwise. Do this before anything more involved.
Bluetooth accessories may need re-pairing
Major updates change how iOS negotiates with Bluetooth devices, and accessories that were paired under the previous version sometimes hold a stale profile. Forget the device in Settings → Bluetooth, then pair it again from scratch.
For AirPods specifically, put them in the case, hold the button until the light flashes amber and re-pair. Car head units are the most stubborn category — many need the phone deleted from the car's own list as well as from the phone's.
Distinguish a beta bug from a router problem
Test the same network with another device, and test the beta device on a different network. If the iPhone works fine on a phone hotspot but not on your home Wi-Fi, the interaction is with that specific router rather than with the beta in general.
Older routers with unusual security or band-steering settings are disproportionately represented in beta connectivity reports. Splitting the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands into separate network names is a common fix that costs nothing to try.
Private Wi-Fi Address and iCloud Private Relay
iOS randomises its Wi-Fi hardware address by default, which some networks — particularly those with MAC-based access control, and many corporate and university networks — will reject. Turn off Private Wi-Fi Address for that network specifically in Settings → Wi-Fi → the network's info button.
If web pages fail to load while the network itself shows as connected, try disabling iCloud Private Relay in Settings → your name → iCloud. Relay problems are common in early betas and look exactly like a broken connection.
When to report it and when to leave
If the problem survives a network reset and a re-pair, and reproduces on more than one network, it is worth a Feedback Assistant report — connectivity bugs are usually fixed quickly once Apple can reproduce them. Our bug reporting guide covers what to include.
If the device is your only phone and calls or mobile data are affected, do not wait for a later build. Our guide to leaving the beta program covers getting back to stable software, and the cellular guide covers the mobile-specific checks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Reset Network Settings delete my data?
No. It clears saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, VPN and cellular configuration only. Apps, photos and settings are untouched.
Why do my AirPods keep disconnecting on the beta?
Usually a stale pairing carried across the update. Forget them in Settings → Bluetooth, reset them by holding the case button until the light flashes amber, and pair again.
Why does Wi-Fi connect but nothing loads?
Try turning off iCloud Private Relay, and turn off Private Wi-Fi Address for that specific network. Both cause exactly this symptom and both are common in early betas.
Should I downgrade over a Wi-Fi bug?
Only if it survives a network reset and affects your only device. Connectivity fixes usually arrive within one or two beta builds.
